Why You Probably Shouldn’t Use Superwall

We spend a lot of time talking about why teams choose Superwall. But today, let’s talk about why you probably shouldn’t.

Superwall was built for teams who want to experiment fast, optimize paywalls deeply, and tie every decision to real revenue impact. It is a tool for people who see monetization as a product function, not just a payment screen.

That said, there are great reasons to choose something else. Different products solve different problems, and if you are optimizing for something other than paywall performance, we can save you the trouble right now.

Here are a few honest reasons you shouldn’t use Superwall.

1. If you primarily need subscription management across web and mobile

If your challenge is managing web subscriptions, verifying receipts, or syncing data across multiple platforms, RevenueCat is the stronger choice.

They have built an excellent subscription infrastructure and are ideal for teams who want one source of truth for user entitlements across web and mobile.

2. If you primarily need reporting and predictive analysis

If your team spends most of its time in dashboards and forecasting models, and you are less focused on building or testing paywalls, then Adapty might be a better fit.

Their platform leans into analytics, retention forecasting, and predictive insights. If your main goal is to study what is happening rather than change it, Adapty will likely get you there faster.

3. If you just need the bare minimum

If you already use one of those platforms and only need a basic paywall to display pricing, you probably do not need Superwall yet – especially with AI assisted coding tools like Cursor & Claude Code. They can build paywalls and integrate In App Purchases just fine.

Our platform was built for teams that want to experiment, localize, personalize, and continuously improve. If you are not there yet, it might make sense to start small.

4. If you like paying for all your revenue, even the stuff we did not help you earn

This one is half joke, half truth.

If you prefer to pay a percentage of all your revenue, including legacy users and revenue that has nothing to do with your paywall, then you will feel right at home with other providers.

Superwall only charges on attributed revenue, meaning the revenue generated directly through Superwall paywalls. Our Purchase APIs, Analytics, Webhooks & Integrations come free for all your revenue (feel free to use them with your native paywalls). If we do not help you make more money, you do not pay us.

But if you need paywalls...

Superwall is your choice.

We are the paywall company. Our paywall editor, event-driven presentation patterns & experimentation tools are far more advanced and well thought out than any tool on the market. They power teams generating $1B in ARR combined.

Superwall is not for everyone, and that is exactly how it should be. If you are building a serious monetization strategy, care about conversion optimization, and want to pay only for the value we create, we would love to work with you.

Our pricing philosophy is simple: we only win when you win. You can read more about how we built this model in our post on pricing alignment, generosity, and transparency.
